Charges were filed against seven teenagers accused of damaging a property they rented through a short-term rental site in London, ON. The property owners were duped into thinking they had rented to a couple who were visiting for the weekend. Instead, the property was used as the location for a high-school graduation party. The partygoers caused over $80,000 in damage to the property.
It’s unclear if the damages were covered by the homeowners’ insurance but there’s a strong possibility that they were not leaving the homeowners to file a claim against the short-term rental platform’s insurance coverage.
